I come from the land of death's shadow
I come to the evening, full of light.
I am speechless seeing: green veil
has come and intertwined the land.
And there's wind and mild scent,
and birds are singing,
-like in my chest
the dying heart is moaning.
Oh no! This world is beautiful!
It is, stays and will be.
That, which has attacked me,
can not shake this.
This vivid, moist soil,
this neverending brightness,
it doesn't care, care, although
a heart has broken.
(Original poem "Kevät" by finnish poet Saima Harmaja.
Some of you might also know this as a song from Harmaja.)
